A Tanning Brush for Perfect Tan
If you have followed our story, you will know that The Tan Brush idea was initiated during a conversation over a glass of wine and a packet of honky dory crisps. It probably shouldn’t have happened to us, but we needed a Tan Brush for perfect self-tanning!
As avid tanners, we had frequent discussions about tanning mitts. We struggled to find a glove or mitt that would give excellent results and the perfect fake tan we craved. No matter what we tried, we ended up with streaks or patches, but the worst was messy knuckles and ankles; they were just a giveaway to the fakery we were trying to master!
On one occasion, I removed a mitt from my bathroom cabinet to discover it was green! I might add no fault of the mitt; it was a quality product, it was more to do with ingredients in the tanning product. However, I couldn’t put said mitt anywhere near my skin, so I flung it in the bin and went without a glow disappointedly.
The night we watched a makeup artist applying, as we thought, a tanning product to GaGa’s leg during the Five-foot-two documentary changed everything. We just looked at each other and smiled. A Eureka moment!
We reached for a pen and paper and began to scribble our thoughts. We drew a concept sketch of how we felt the brush should look, gave it a name, chose our brand colours, bought a domain and registered the company. At 4 am, we decided to sleep and revisit our whacky idea in the morning.
We carefully considered this innovative idea, but we knew there was a real need for change. There had to be a better way for self-tanning. The problem we faced would be educating the consumer; and by introducing a new brand; we needed to build trust with them; which would take time and have a price tag. However, The Tan Brush is perfect for self-tanning. So we decided to bring our concept to life, and the groundwork began to create this little disruptor!.
By no means do we wish to insult or disrespect self-tanning manufacturers by creating a ruckus. Their energy and commitment lie in creating excellent tanning products that we couldn’t live without, and they do that very well.
Our company’s mission is to offer you, the consumer, the best way to apply these wonderful products to your skin in an effortless way so you feel fantastic. When you have sun-kissed, glowing, healthy-looking skin, you feel confident, sexy and attractive. When you feel on top of the world, you can achieve anything you set your mind to do.
As we began to create the brush, we watched make-up artists on Tik tok and Instagram as they began buffing and blending tanning products into their knuckles and hands with small foundation brushes, and we knew we were on the right path. A tanning brush that could be used on the whole body and face would surely change the game! Carlos G Beauty used it at LA Fashion week ’21 and raved about it!
The Tan Brush’s journey began three years ago, already she, because, of course, she’s female, has encountered a global pandemic, not ideal timing! However, she’s still here and has travelled from Northern Ireland to Von Maur in America, Canada, Saffi Beauty Norway, De Gruchy, The Chanel Islands and New Zealand, she’s a feisty little thing, and we reckon she’s here to stay.
