The Tan Brush® was conceived in February 2019 by Pamela Kennedy, Karyn Booth, and their good friend Lina Kennedy. It was inspired by a conversation while sharing a glass of wine, a packet of crisps and watching Lady Gaga’s ‘Five Foot Two ’documentary.

Before Gaga was about to perform, a make-up artist applied final touches to her leg. At first, they thought it was oil or glycerine, but then, possibly a tanning product. Can a brush apply self-tan to the body and face? Could the tanning mitt be replaced and the experience improved?

After searching social media platforms for a tanning body brush without success, the women decided to create their own Tan Brush. A tool that could be used without a mitt, elevating the self-tanning experience and changing how we could apply the tan in future. Could we ditch our mitts?

They used their collective fifty years of experience in professional beauty and twenty-five years in manufacturing beauty and health products to bring this innovative product to market.

Covid-19 delayed the process but facilitated time to connect with distributors in America, Ireland, Norway, Finland, New Zealand, and Canada. Extra time enabled further product development and the introduction of the cleanser. It also allowed the marketing team to build a solid social media presence before The Tan Brush officially launched on the 25th of August 2021.

On the 28th of October 2021, The Tan Brush won a Gold Award for the ‘Best New Beauty Accessory ’at the Pure Beauty Awards in London. The highest accolade in the beauty industry.

In May 2022, we were bestowed with the Pure Beauty Global Award ‘Best New Breakthrough Brand’.
